Raden Ama-iro Hekiku Limited edition Fountain pen by Taccia – a luminous model for sublime writing
This is a real work of art from the Japanese brand. The Raden Ama-iro Hekiku is made of ebonite and has been covered with urushi lacquer and decorated with raden patterns.
Urushi lacquer, which comes exclusively from the sap of the Chinese lacquer tree (an Asian tree), has been used for thousands of years to protect objects once it has been applied and dried. It has an incredible capacity to resist corrosion, scratches and even impacts. This type of fountain pen therefore has an exceptional lifespan that can easily be extended over several generations. Raden technique consists in cutting the interior covering of a shell and inlaying it into a lacquered background. The word “raden” is composed of “ra”, meaning the shellfish in the shape of a spiral, and “den”, meaning the decoration with the shell.
The work of the master lacquerer:
The Japanese master lacquerer first covered the fountain pen with several layers of black urushi lacquer, which gives it an unparalleled shine and brilliance. He then painted the upper part of the barrel and cap with blue lacquer and decorated the fountain pen with lines of raden, before covering the model with new layers of lacquer and polishing it. This manual, artisanal work requires several weeks of concentration and patience.
The iridescent colours of the raden patterns literally play with the light and are reminiscent of the northern lights dancing in the sky.
Taccia has aesthetically matched the stylised clip to the colour of the fountain pen. The Master Lacquerer has affixed his signature and the model number to the top of the body, as he designed 35 of them.
Its nib:
The two-tone 14-carat gold nib is made by Sailor and is available in sizes EF, F, MF, M, B and MS.
You will receive your Raden Ama-iro Hekiku Limited edition fountain pen by Taccia on a velvet cloth in a wooden box, accompanied with a lovely kimono case that will allow you to store it and have it with you on a daily basis. As Taccia chooses the kimono case randomly, the colour of the one shown in the photos will not necessarily match that of the one you receive.

Magnifique stylo !
