This new Pelikan creation takes us back in time to the dawn of the 20th century. At the time of the Avant-Garde, when advertising art was making its appearance, many painters and graphic designers used Pelikan colours for their advertising (remember that Pelikan first made its name by manufacturing inks). Fritz Beindorff, former owner of Pelikan and art collector, launched the first poster competition in 1898.

Among the artists, the Italian painter Glauco Cambon submitted a very colourful drawing of pelicans on the water for the 1909 competition. His work won a prize and was bought by the German brand. The colourful reflections created by the movement of the birds inspired the dynamic wave pattern on the Souverän M600 Glauco Cambon.

Outstanding craftsmanship:

The body of the model was created using the “Aurora” technique: on a treated, engraved and guilloched brass tube, fine grooves are obtained that produce a holographic effect. Ten layers of transparent lacquer are then applied to give the instrument a smooth, flat surface. After polishing, the coloured pattern is printed. The high gloss of the body is achieved by deep polishing.

The top of the body, the cap and the black section are made from resin with self-polishing properties. Pelikan has equipped its Souverän M600 with its famous integrated piston filling system. Each model is designed entirely by hand, making it unique.

The fountain pen is adorned with gold-plated trims: two thin rings at the top of the body announcing the piston button, a superb central ring engraved with the brand name and the name Souverän. Not forgetting the famous clip in the shape of a pelican’s beak and the magnificent finial at the top of the cap displaying the Pelikan logo.

The nib:

The two-tone nib, finely chiselled and adorned with the brand’s logo, is made of 14-carat gold. Pelikan offers it in EF, F, M and B line thicknesses.
