Description
King of Pens Tamenuri Raden Nami Fountain pen by Sailor – Limited edition of 200 pieces worldwide !
The King of Pens Tamenuri Raden fountain pen embodies the masterful combination of two iconic Japanese techniques: Tamenuri and Raden. Through meticulous layers of lacquer applied to ebonite, Tamenuri reveals striking depth, interspersed with translucent and luminous shades.
The process begins with the application of a base coat of Tame-nuri (purple in colour), followed by layers of transparent lacquer, each of which must dry for several days. It is this layering that creates the characteristic depth and clarity.
Added to this base is the brilliance of Raden: fine inlays of mother-of-pearl that capture the light and reflect it in a myriad of iridescent reflections. The Raden technique consists of cutting the inner lining of a shell and inlaying it into a lacquered background. The word “raden” is composed of “ra”, referring to the shellfish, and ‘den’, referring to the decoration using the shell. Entirely handcrafted by master artisans, each piece is unique, imbued with character and soul.
Much more than a writing instrument, this fountain pen is a tribute to Japanese craftsmanship, a perfect blend of tradition and elegance, giving each stroke a poetic dimension.
Like all KOPs, the threaded section resembles a magnificent gold-plated timepiece. It also has two small windows so you can see how much ink is left and when it’s time to refill your fountain pen.
The nib :
Sailor has equipped its model with a magnificent gold-plated 21-carat gold nib that is superbly engraved. Majestic, it measures 26 mm in length. We offer it in M and B sizes.
