Apica

The story behind the brand :

Apica was founded in 1916. In 1984, the brand became the first in Japan to use acid-free paper in the creation of its products, thanks to its collaboration with Oji Paper Co. This feature offers enhanced quality, as Apica can offer a paper that lasts ten times longer and retains the same original quality over time.

The paper it produces is extremely soft, as soft as silk.

In 1987, the brand launched the C.D. Notebook, “C.D.” standing for classical design. Every detail was taken care of. The pages were sewn together, the cover was reinforced with cloth and made from deep-coloured Tsuzure paper. Its classic design and traditional ornamental frame are elegantly reminiscent of old book covers.

Apica embosses the name of the model on the cover of its Premium range notebooks and adds the words “Premium” in gold leaf. Each notebook is also covered in removable plastic, so that it is always protected during use. The C.D. Premium notebook was named one of the best notebooks on the Wirecutter website, the product recommendation service of the New York Times.

Nippon Notebook Corporation was created in January 2019 by merging the Apica and Kyokuto (1922) brands. The Okina brand (1916) joins them in 2024.
