Midori

The story behind the brand :

Midori brand was founded in 1950 in Tokyo, Japan, under the name of Designphil Inc. and was originally dedicated to the manufacture of quality stationery and greetings cards.

The name “Midori” means “green” in Japanese. This colour symbolises freshness, nature and a certain idea of purity and simplicity. Values that the brand incorporates into its designs.

In 2006, Midori launched one of its most emblematic products: the Traveler’s notebook. This notebook has become a cult item among lovers of journaling, travel and handmade stationery. The concept is based on a natural, skateable leather cover and a system of interchangeable inserts. But it’s also based on a philosophy of freedom and creativity: each notebook becomes unique over time. The Traveler’s Notebook has even become a sub-brand in its own right, known as the Traveler’s Company.

Midori is also known for its refined, minimalist approach and attention to detail. It places great emphasis on the quality of materials, functionality and refined design.

The MD (Midori Diary) notebooks and notepads are among its flagship products: the acid-free, homemade paper is extremely soft. It’s ideal for writing and drawing with calligraphy nibs and fountain pens, as well as pencils.

The Japanese brand also produces desk accessories with a sober, elegant design.

Although Midori is a deeply Japanese brand, it has gained an international audience, thanks in particular to the Internet and communities of stationery enthusiasts.
