Tomoe River

Tomoe River paper is renowned for its extreme thinness and exceptional compatibility with fountain pens. Each sheet has a smooth surface, ideal for smooth writing without smudging or feathering. This top-of-the-range Japanese paper will appeal to handwriting enthusiasts looking for lightness and quality.

The story behind the brand :

Tomoegawa Paper Factory was founded in Shimizu in 1914, on the banks of the River Tomoe in Japan. The water from this river is used to produce its paper.

Originally used for shipping, the company discovered that its paper was ideal for writing with a pen. Its unique characteristics make it a particularly popular paper with fountain pen and pencil enthusiasts.

Despite its extremely fine grammage (52 g/m2), this paper is very strong. It also minimises the effects of transparency. Its smooth, soft texture (the paper is coated on both sides) produces sharp, precise lines, for a writing experience that is as pleasant as it is exceptional. The properties and attributes of the ink, such as gloss and shading, are also enhanced, as are the colours.

Tomoegawa Paper attaches great importance to its paper being made from sustainable forests. It invests heavily in this area.

Tomoe River paper is currently manufactured by Sanzen Paper Manufacturing. All end products are made from Tomoe River base paper by the Japanese company Sakae Technical Paper (notebooks, leaflets).
