Unlike the Custom Urushi, which is more suited to men, this beautiful pen is equally suited to men and women. Everything about this pen is exceptional: from the deep red lacquer – as shiny as a mirror – to the beautiful two-tone nib, not to mention the design and the many details, it will leave no one indifferent. The grip is very pleasant, the proportions are well thought out and the object is very well balanced. The ink flow is regular and, whatever the variations and pressures, the nib fulfills its function with ease and precision. It will find its place in a sumptuous wooden box designed for this purpose.

Custom 845 Red Fountain pen by Pilot – a precious model for remarkable writing
The Custom 845 is the smaller version of the famous Custom Urushi. Made on an ebonite base, the pen has been carefully coated with the famous Urushi lacquer, using the Roiro lacquering technique, a speciality of the maki-e (Kokkokai school) craftsmen of Japan, thus enhancing the object.
This lacquer, which comes exclusively from the sap of the Japanese varnish tree (an Asian tree), has been used for thousands of years as a protection once it has been applied to objects and dried. It has an incredible ability to resist corrosion, scratches and even impacts. This type of fountain pen therefore has an exceptional lifespan which can easily extend over several generations.
The colour of this lacquer varies according to its exposure to light, generating incomparable shades, brilliance and shining. Many coats are necessary to achieve such a result, but also a considerable investment of time, since each coat will require a drying time that can vary from 3 to 7 days. Depending on the number of coats, which can be as many as 20, many weeks and often several months are needed to create such a piece, to which must be added a meticulous finishing work.
Elegant with its deep red lacquer, the Custom 845 has gold-plated trims: a thin ring on the section and cap, a wider ring at the end of the body that tapers, and a central ring on the cap, on which the model name has been engraved in black.
The beautiful two-tone 18-carat gold nib (24 mm long) is available in four sizes: F, M, B and BB.
Supplied with its converter, the Custom 845 Red Fountain pen by Pilot will be delivered in its exclusive wooden box.

Le Custom 845 est un incontournable pour les amoureux des stylos-plume… dont vous faites partie 😉
Esthétiquement, il n’y a rien à redire sur ce stylo, la laque Urushi fait son office. J’ai pris une plume fine, une première pour moi (je suis plus habitué aux medium voire large) pour pouvoir notamment faire de la prise de notes. Et cette plume est juste parfaite, elle reste fluide et glisse sur le papier comme je le souhaitais.

Il est toujours incroyable d’écrire avec une plume Pilot, celle-ci ne déroge pas à la règle. Somptueuse laque Urushi. Un stylo hors du commun.
