Then, when you hold it in your hand, its touch offers a pleasant sensation since the layers of urushi lacquer make it extremely soft. Finally, when you let the nib run over the paper, you are almost ecstatic, so much you are conquered by its smoothness. The Izumo is without doubt one of the most beautiful pieces ever created.

Izumo Tamenuri Biwatame fountain pen by Platinum – a sublime model for splendid writing
The Izumo, which refers to the Japanese city of the same name, is without doubt one of the brand’s most beautiful models. Its ravishing, sensual silhouette makes it a unique and recognisable among all fountain pen. Made of ebonite, it is coated with urushi lacquer, using the tame-nuri technique.
This consists of applying a first layer of coloured lacquer, in this case brown, and then applying several layers of transparent, amber or even black lacquer, so that the lower layer becomes visible. The colour Biwatame refers to a brown algae.
Over time, with exposure to light, the top layers of lacquer will lighten to reveal more of the underlying colour. You could say that Izumo becomes more beautiful with the passage of time. Each layer of lacquer must dry before the next is applied. Including the polishing process, the creation of such a fountain pen requires several months of work.
The trims of the Izumo are gold-plated, including the beautiful clip engraved with the brand name and echoing the silhouette of the Izumo.
The nib is made from 18-carat gold and is available in F, M and B sizes. Platinum has just changed the engraving on its nib (it’s even more beautiful!), which is no longer two-coloured but yellow gold in colour. The nib shown in the photo no longer corresponds to reality.
The Izumo Tamenuri Biwatame fountain pen by Platinum is supplied with its converter, the metal part of which is plated with 24 carat gold, a cartridge and a kimono case. It will be delivered to you in a beautiful wooden box, set on a green velvet cloth.
Caution: we advise against leaving the Izumo in direct sunlight, as UV rays can damage the colour of the lacquer. Daylight is perfectly suitable.

C’est mon premier stylo Platinum et je suis conquise.
Elégance est l’adjectif qui lui convient, la brillance de sa laque se suffit à elle même pour lui donner toute sa somptuosité.
La plume quant à elle est magnifiquement gravée et écrire devient un plaisir.
D’autre part l’étui fourni avec le stylo, il est lui aussi magnifique, tout en finesse.

L’Izumo est encore plus beau dans la réalité. J’étais habitué aux plumes souples de Platinum que j’adore, je suis définitivement conquis par cette plume rigide, d’une glisse extraordinaire et d’une précision redoutable.
