The expert’s opinion: when the brand announced that it was now creating cases, I expected a product of excellence. And of course I was not disappointed. First of all, I was captivated by the aesthetics of the designs. When I picked them up, I was won over by their silky feel and the refinement they exuded. Finally, when I inserted my King of Pen in one of them, I knew that this case was meant for it.

The Japanese brand has created its pen case by hand from real kimonos. They are therefore, by definition, unique and, in addition, they are produced in very small quantities. Imbued with authenticity, Japanese culture and tradition, these kimono cases are very pleasant to the touch, and for good reason: they are made of silk with a light touch of cotton. The soft interior is made from polyester.
Sailor offers 5 different colours to suit all tastes. The Autumn breeze case features tree leaves in autumn colours. The motifs come in a variety of colours, including yellow, orange, brown and green. An elastic cord with a bamboo tip is used to close the case.
This sleeve is adjustable in length, so it fits all sizes of fountain pen. Insert your fountain pen through the side opening at the top of the case.
As each sleeve is unique, the one you receive will not be exactly the same as the one shown in the photograph.

I have always struggled to find an appropriately-sized pen pouch to use for my Sailor pens–especially the oversized King of Pen, which is a bit too long for many other pen pouches and leather cases. Fortunately, these Sailor kimono-style pen cases are adjustable in length to accommodate all sizes of Sailor pens and are simply perfect. They are beautifully designed, of very high quality construction, and, in my opinion, the perfect companion to a Sailor fountain pen.
Quite apart from accommodating the unique size of the King of Pen, no other case I have tried really matches the overall aesthetic and personality of Sailor pens, which are uniquely and wonderfully Japanese. That’s why I was so thrilled to find that Sailor is making these kimono-style pouches. These beautiful pouches are EXACTLY what Sailor pens deserve–it’s a match made in Heaven. Every so often, I would search the internet to see if Sailor had decided to release any pen pouches for their specific products. This is how I found (quite by accident) the Nibs Plus Ultra website. I’m so glad I did!
