The expert’s opinion: to say that this pen is a marvel is an understatement. Holding it in the hand is a pleasure not only in terms of the contact, but also in observing all the details that make it a magnificent writing object. Its characteristic nib glides smoothly over the paper, obeying its owner with almost diabolic precision. However, I would have liked to see other nib sizes available.

Rei Wajima Akebononuri fountain pen by Sailor – an exceptional model for exceptional writing
The Rei series is a prestigious collection from the Sailor brand. The Wajima Akebononuri model, designed by the artist Masanora Sumi, is one of the most sumptuous illustrations. Masanora Sumi is one of the specialists, in Wajima (Japan), of the gradation technique which consists of applying urushi lacquer on the fountain pen with a magnificent transition from one colour to another. This meticulous handiwork makes each model unique. The superb red colour is followed by a black colour of unparalleled depth and brilliance typical of urushi lacquer.
Its body and cap are made of ebonite, the section is made of resin. The cap of the pen is uniquely simple and refined, and its perfect shape covers the object with a flamboyant aesthetic. Without a clip, it underlines a sobriety as well as an extraordinary elegance. The central part is decorated with a stylized ring and a thin ring in the section. Both are gold-plated, as is typical of Sailor.
Its nib, in beautifully engraved 21-carat gold, is available for this model only in size M. The fountain pen – lying on royal blue velvet – is presented in a magnificent paulownia wood box (nicknamed “Imperial Tree”) surrounded by a solid ribbon.
You will receive your Rei Wajima accompanied with its converter, two cartridges, a sumptuous cloth kimono case and a polishing cloth. As Sailor chooses the kimono case randomly, the one shown in the photos will not necessarily match that the one you receive.

J’ai cassé ma tirelire pour l’un des plus magnifiques stylos-plume , selon moi, de la marque Sailor. La prise en main est excellente et tout à fait naturelle. La plume est extraordinaire, la glisse, tout à fait exceptionnelle. La laque est somptueuse, les attributs d’une qualité à couper le souffle. Même le fourreau est magnifique. J’hésitais entre deux stylos, Marie m’a judicieusement conseillé. Merci
