The moment I hold it in my hand, I immediately sense a writing instrument of the highest quality, a true testament to the brand’s craftsmanship. The brand has opted for a particularly fine resin, chosen for its lightness. This choice ensures optimal balance, with the barrel and top section crafted from metal, without ever weighing down the pen as a whole. The guilloché work is a true triumph. Finely executed, it subtly catches the light and lends the fountain pen a particularly elegant visual depth. The cap deserves special attention: a true aesthetic and technical feat, it stands out for its articulated clip, which is flexible and precise, demonstrating a remarkable attention to detail. As for the 18-carat gold nib, it provides a wonderfully smooth writing experience. On my Clairefontaine notebook, it glides with remarkable fluidity, depositing Pelikan’s Aquamarine ink with consistency: a true delight. Guilloché engraving, which involves engraving fine lines to form regular, delicate patterns, is a traditional jewellery craft. Originally, this technique was used to adorn the most refined objects, from exceptional watches to the famous Fabergé eggs.
Graf von Faber-Castell has transposed this art onto the writing instruments in the Guilloché collection. The precious resin body is patiently engraved with a subtle decoration, then enhanced by several stages of lacquering and polishing carried out with the utmost care. The result is a fountain pen with a delicate relief that elegantly captures the light.
This collection is available in a range of expressive colours. The Guilloché Black features a luminous black finish complemented by rhodium-plated trims: the section, the upper body and the famous cap with its articulated clip, which contributes to the brand’s reputation. Of particular note is the superb decorative knurling that adorns the top of the cap and the end of the barrel.
The fountain pen is filled using its converter or by inserting a cartridge into the section.
Graf von Faber-Castell has equipped its Guilloché with a rhodium-plated 18-carat gold nib, superbly engraved notably with its logo, and offer it to you in sizes EF, F, M and B.
