The Legacy embodies both the richness of Sheaffer’s heritage and a contemporary vision of writing. Its design pays particular tribute to the PFM (Pen For Men), launched in the 1950s and now regarded as one of the brand’s iconic models.
Sheaffer has crafted its fountain pen from brass, a material renowned for its strength, stability, and reassuringly substantial feel in the hand. It is distinguished by a balanced silhouette and a black lacquer finish on the barrel, with a chrome-plated cap.
The trims are made of stainless steel with a 14-carat gold PVD coating: fine rings, a wide central ring and the clip, which features the famous ‘white dot’ that signifies the quality and prestige of Sheaffer’s creations. All the threads are made of metal. As for the converter, it is every bit as fine as the fountain pen itself, with its smoky black resin and metallic finishes setting it apart from more conventional converters.
Sheaffer has chosen a stainless steel nib with a 14-carat gold PVD coating. Physical Vapour Deposition is a modern technology: the coating is vaporised under vacuum and then bonded to the metal surface. This process creates a very thin layer that is harder, more scratch-resistant and more durable over time than traditional plating. Emblematic of the brand, the nib is inlaid into the section, giving it a harmonious and distinctive silhouette. Its sleek design is instantly recognisable. The brand offers it in F and M sizes.

C’est le côté “fifties” de ce stylo-plume qui m’a tapé dans l’ oeil, avec son esprit “auteur de polars”; quand on le prend, il se cale naturellement dans le creux entre le pouce et l’index, comme par habitude. Au premier mot, on est surpris par la grande douceur de la plume: j’avais l’impression de retrouver un vieux copain, un stylo avec lequel j’écrivais depuis vingt ans. Comme la glisse de la plume du Legacy est très agréable sur le papier, il m’est arrivé de la laisser courir toute seule et de finir avec plus de lettres dans les mots que prévu.Définitivement un de mes stylos préférés.

Design superbe avec sa plume enchâssée et l’alliance de l’or et du chrome. Écriture fluide avec une plume F (plus proche de M). Dommage qu’elle ne soit pas proposée en EF, mes plumes de prédilection. Une pièce qui n’est pas sans rappeler le modèle PFM 🙂
