The expert’s opinion: the least we I say is that this fountain pen is a dream, because as soon as I hold it in my hand, I feel like I am about to sign the contract of the century. Although it is much larger than the size I am used to, it is pleasant to hold and is quick to use. While the length of the nib is at odds with much more traditional nibs, it does its job with incredible elegance when allowed to run freely on the paper. The extra pleasure it generates as it glides along with ease and precision is undeniable. Whatever the variations and pressures, it does so brilliantly that I can’t help but wonder what its incredible secret is, so unusual is the experience. The very type of pen that one would keep preciously with oneself, that one would probably show to others if they asked, but that one would always entrust with great reluctance, even for a few moments. The price of what is precious.

To say that this sumptuous model is “the king of fountain pens”, as Sailor puts it with the acronym KOP – King of Pens – is certainly not a stylish statement. But if this magnificent object, intended for men, imposes by its presence and the quality of its materials, it is above all by its nib that it impresses.
A nib that literally transports us before the Meiji era, to the warlords, the famous samurais and those who made their Katana for them. For if this nib is exceptional, we owe it to this ancestral tradition: that of perfection which can only be truly experienced when the object is held in the hands.
Made of high quality glossy black resin, this fountain pen has three thin rings and a much larger central ring with the brand name followed by the year it was created, as well as the inscription “THE KING OF PEN” in capital letters. All trims, including the clip, are plated with 24-carat gold.
When the pen is unscrewed, it is not a simple thread where the cartridge or converter is attached, but a splendid device just as impressive as the nib. The upper part of the section impresses not only by its length (over 30 mm), but also by the quality of the material used and its technicality.
Two small vertical windows on either side of the device allow the ink level of the converter to be seen at a glance. The 24-carat gold-plated finish is very attractive.
Its two-tone nib is exceptional in its imposing length (26 mm) and width (11 mm). Made of 21-carat gold, it is also rhodium and 24-carat gold plated. The nib is available in M and B.
From 2026 onwards, the King of Pens will be equipped with an 18-carat gold nib. A few pieces with a 21-carat gold nib are still available: these are the last items from the current stock and will be offered until stocks are exhausted.
