1911L Naginata Togi Gold Fountain pen by Sailor – a unique writing experience
The craftsmen of this Japanese brand specialise in writing performance and use traditional techniques that they have inherited. Many decades ago, Mr Nobuyoshi Nagahara created special nibs: Naginata nibs. The name was chosen in reference to the Naginata swords, and the nibs of the same name were nicknamed “sword nibs” because of their shape. Today, after being first succeeded by his son Yukio, it is the Nib Masters trained by Mr Nagahara who create these veritable masterpieces.
Naginata’s special nibs allow you to change the line thickness depending on how you hold your fountain pen. The Naginata Togi nib has an obloid tip. This feature allows you to write thin lines when you hold your fountain pen vertically (90°), thick lines when you hold it conventionally (45°) and even thicker lines when you hold it at 30°.
The 1911L Naginata Togi is made of resin and its trims are gold-plated. Its central ring is superbly crafted and partly covered in black ionic plating (IP coating).
The nib
Sailor has equipped its creation with a 21-carat gold nib and offers it in three sizes: MF, M and B.
