Located in the Northern Vosges Regional Park, Atelier De Laforêt designs beautifully crafted products of exceptional quality. The brand has created this box set from service tree wood and tumbled cowhide leather.
The service tree, a forest fruit tree, is a semi-shade species with a dense, hard structure and slow growth, originating from the Vosges mountains and the forests of the Meuse. The exploitation of this wood remains very limited, as the trees grow in scattered locations. A small specialist sawmill in Alsace selects this species directly from the forest for the brand. The service tree is closely related to the pear tree, with which it shares its softness and elegance. It is ideal for an oiled finish. The brand has therefore treated its box with organic linseed-based oils.
The leather adorning the lid of the box has been given its grain by passing through a fulling mill (a natural finish obtained by movement) rather than by printing, using beautiful, large, premium quality full-grain hides. These hides are manufactured by Tannerie Carriat, founded in 1927 and located in Espelette in the Basque Country. The colour palette and incomparable feel of the selected hides characterise the work of this long-established tannery.
The wood is light brown and the leather is purple. Two small curved wooden handles allow you to open and close the box, which also features small magnets. The interior is lined with felt and can hold 11 pens of all sizes.
