Indigenous people Bajau Fountain pen by Delta – Limited edition of 388 pieces worldwide
The cultural journey continues in 2026 with a new chapter in the “Indigenous People” collection, dedicated to the Bajau, a sea-nomad people whose lives are intimately connected to the ocean.
This creation follows in the footsteps of Francesco Rienzi’s work. A visionary and a leading figure in Italian design, he shaped the aesthetic identity of this now-iconic collection from 2003 onwards. For the second consecutive year, the project’s artistic direction continues this adventure with the aim of preserving the spirit envisioned by its creator while bringing a fresh perspective to his legacy.
A true handcrafted work of art, this fountain pen brings together a multitude of carefully selected materials, colours and finishes. Precious resins turned from solid rods, noble metals and refined details pay tribute to the Bajau people and their inseparable relationship with the sea.
Crafted using the ancient lost-wax casting technique, the clip faithfully reproduces the Lepa, the traditional boat that also serves as a home for many Bajau families. The band adorning the barrel features decorative motifs inspired by the traditional costumes of this community. An engraved finial embellishes the top of the cap, while a second finial, engraved with the individual serial number and a stylised motif, decorates the end of the barrel.
For this edition, Jonathon Brooks of Carolina Pen Company developed an exclusive resin whose colours evoke the depths of the ocean. Shades of blue and green blend with luminous reflections inspired by the vibrant colours of Bajau culture, creating a particularly evocative visual effect.
The pen is equipped with an integrated piston-filling mechanism manufactured in the Maiora workshops. All trim components are crafted from gold-plated brass.
The nib:
The fountain pen is fitted with a No. 6 14-carat gold nib, beautifully engraved with a motif inspired by the traditional headdress worn by Bajau women. Delta offers it in EF, F, M, B, Stub 1.1, as well as in flexible EF and F versions.
