The Kaku-tate fountain pen, made of ebonite, has a perfect long, dodecagonal shape. The Japanese master lacquerer has coated the fountain pen with several layers of blue urushi lacquer, giving it an unparalleled shine and brilliance. Each of the twelve edges has been carefully and delicately highlighted with a lighter shade of blue to make it stand out.
Urushi lacquer, which comes exclusively from the sap of the Chinese lacquer tree (an Asian tree), has been used for thousands of years to protect objects once it has been applied and dried. It has an incredible capacity to resist corrosion, scratches and even impacts. This type of fountain pen therefore has an exceptional lifespan that can easily be extended over several generations.
The brand has equipped its model with a superb clip with a stylised silhouette. Gold plated, it contrasts beautifully with the blue colour. The thread of the section is made of metal, which attests to the brand’s seriousness.
The nib:
Its two-tone 14-carat gold nib is made by Sailor and is available in sizes EF, F, MF, M, B, MS and Z.
