Description
Miyabi Earth Bokashi Lava Fountain pen by Taccia – A limited edition of 100 worldwide
Taccia’s urushi fountain pens are made in the town of Wajima in the Ishikawa region of Japan, a town renowned for its advanced lacquering techniques that stand the test of time. The Bokashi Lava fountain pen in the Miyabi Earth collection was created by a Master lacquerer with a very high level of expertise and specialised in the gradation technique. With an ebonite base, this model is covered in red and black urushi lacquer, each colour giving way to the other in a perfect transition. Rarely seen on a fountain pen, even the section benefits from this outstanding workmanship.
This limited edition of 100 has a classic shape and a sobriety that leaves plenty of room for the deep colours and the brilliance of the urushi lacquer. The clip has also been covered in lacquer, in a black ccolour that echoes the top of the barrel when the fountain pen is closed. At the end of the body, the Master Lacquerer has not only signed his work, but also accompanied his signature with the model number. Its threaded section is made of metal.
The lacquer technique:
The lacquer has this incredible ability to resist corrosion, scratches and even impacts. This type of fountain pen therefore has an exceptional lifespan which can easily extend over several generations. The colour of this lacquer varies according to its exposure to light, generating incomparable shades, brilliance and shine. Many coats are necessary to achieve such a result, but also a considerable investment of time, since each coat will require a drying time that can vary from 3 to 7 days. Depending on the number of layers, which can be up to 20, long weeks and often several months are needed to create such a piece to which a meticulous finishing work must not be forgotten.
The nib:
Taccia has equipped its Bokashi Lava with a two-tone 18-carat gold nib made by Sailor. The nib is available in four sizes: EF, MF, M and B.
You’ll receive your Miyabi Earth Bokashi Lava fountain pen by Taccia in a delightful wooden box. It will be accompanied by its converter, two cartridges and a superb kimono case that will allow you to carry your fountain pen with you at all times.
