L’avis de l’expert : I’m fond of wooden fountain pens. I was particularly taken by the warmth of the Brier. The visible wood grain gives the pen its authenticity. Its brilliance and pleasant feel more than justify its nickname of “gemstone tree”. Like all KOP, the fit is natural and pleasant. The nib follows the movements of my fingers as if we had known each other all our lives. A real collector’s item… that I’ll be taking out of its box on a regular basis.

Bramble is a small deciduous tree, scientifically known as Erica arborea. It belongs to the heather family and is native to the Mediterranean region. Also known as the “gemstone tree” because of its bright colour, shine and the intricate beauty of its wood grain, it has unique swirls weaving fascinating patterns. It is extremely hard, durable and heat-resistant, making it ideal for making writing instruments and smoking pipes.
The brand new King of Pens Brier is made from pieces of tree trunks between 25 and 100 years old and is prized for its exquisite wood patterns. The wood matures with use and age, becoming all the more beautiful over time. Its section and the top of the body and cap are made from black resin.
The trims (rings and clip) are gold-plated, in particular the magnificent central ring typical of the KOP. Also typical is the threaded section, which resembles a magnificent gold-plated timepiece. It also has two small windows so you can see how much ink is left and when it’s time to refill your fountain pen.
Its two-tone nib is exceptional in its imposing length (26 mm) and width (11 mm). Made of 21-carat gold, it is also rhodium and 24-carat gold plated. The nib is available in M.
You’ll receive your King of Pens Brier fountain pen by Sailor in a splendid black wooden box, accompanied with its converter, a cartridge, a 50 ml bottle of ink and a a polishing cloth.
