The Legacy embodies both the richness of Sheaffer’s heritage and a contemporary vision of writing. First introduced in the 1990s, it follows in the tradition of the great fountain pens that have shaped Sheaffer’s history. Its design pays particular tribute to the PFM (Pen For Men), launched in the 1950s and now regarded as one of the brand’s iconic models.

The fountain pen is crafted from brass, a material renowned for its strength, stability, and reassuringly substantial feel in the hand. It is distinguished by a perfectly balanced silhouette, enhanced by a refined matte black finish adorned with an elegant engraved chevron pattern.

The trims are made of stainless steel with a ruthenium PVD coating. Physical Vapour Deposition is a modern technology: the coating is vaporised under vacuum and then bonded to the metal surface. This process creates a very thin layer that is harder, more scratch-resistant and more durable over time than traditional plating. In a gunmetal finish (a deep gunmetal grey), delicate rings, a wide central band, and a clip adorn the Legacy. The clip features Sheaffer’s famous “white dot”, an emblem of the quality and prestige that define the brand’s creations.

All the threads are made of metal. As for the converter, it is every bit as fine as the fountain pen itself, with its smoky black resin and metallic finishes setting it apart from more conventional converters.

The nib:

Sheaffer has chosen a stainless steel nib with a ruthenium PVD coating. Emblematic of the brand, the nib is inlaid into the section, giving it a harmonious and distinctive silhouette. Its sleek design is instantly recognisable. The brand offers it in F and M sizes.
